Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.
The Platform and Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) team works to make service deployment safer, easier, and quicker. Square is at an exciting inflection point, where Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are becoming increasingly advantageous to product engineers versus our data-centers. We engage with teams to understand where they want to go and build tooling that makes it possible without getting in the way. Some recent plans we've delivered include unifying cloud and data-center observability, feature enhancements to our Terraform CI/CD pipelines, and enablingservice mesh connectivity from AWS Lambda.
As an engineer on PIE, you will directly help develop the infrastructure that enables every team at Square to develop services at lightning speed. Your impact will span across product and infrastructure engineering teams at Square, and you will help set the direction for Square's cloud use for many years to come. Along the way, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet and work with engineers from across the company working on different problems and help them all succeed.
