Product Manager, Fulfillment Platform

  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

The Square eCommerce team, formed with the acquisition of Weebly in May 2018, is on a mission to make it incredibly easy for anyone to sell online. With more than 40 million users across Weebly, Square Online Store, Square Online Checkout, and our other eCommerce products, we are passionate about helping restaurants, retailers, and sellers of all kinds reach success -- both online and offline.

As Product Manager — Fulfillment Platform, you will help lead our recently formed Fulfillment Platform team as we build robust APIs and platform products relied upon by developers both internal to Square and externally, powering critical online commerce functionality for sellers around the world. You will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Analytics, and other product and platform teams across Square to integrate and launch remarkable experiences.

The ideal candidate has significant experience building and launching APIs, and is passionate about the potential for platforms to unlock new opportunities for seller success. Our eCommerce Platform, in conjunction with Square’s existing Connect APIs and Developer Platform, will help shape the future of how fulfillment experiences work online. This position will require strategic thinking and methodical execution, with an opportunity to drive impact for the millions of small businesses around the world.

You will:

  • Define product strategy and optimize our customers’ experience using a variety of inputs, and clearly articulate rationale behind decisions

  • Create and drive a platform roadmap, promote it across the organization, and execute initiatives from ideation through execution.

  • Deeply understand the needs of Square sellers, third-party developers, and teams within Square building on our platform, and guide our world-class team to ship remarkable solutions

  • Foster an environment that enables the eCommerce Platform Engineering team to build quickly while maintaining a high standard for quality

  • In collaboration with engineering, marketing, and analytics partners, lead the end-to-end success of projects from discovery to launch

  • Identify opportunities to leverage our fulfillment platform solutions to support other Square products and align with cross functional teams on resourcing and timeline

  • Influence key stakeholders throughout Square to align intent, resources, and prioritization

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product management experience
  • 2+ years of experience shipping successful platform products and APIs that required partnering across multiple teams, organizations, and/or companies

  • Ability to both operate at a strategic level and dive deep into the technical details and complexity with ease. You can readily communicate technical and complex topics to non-technical audiences.

  • Skilled at balancing long term platform strategy with the flexibility to quickly respond to changing seller needs

  • Passion for our purpose of economic empowerment and helping sellers succeed

  • Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product direction based on customer needs

  • Great relationship-building skills that shine when you’re talking with a customer, cross-functional partner, or engaging a diverse audience

  • Natural curiosity and growth mindset, obsession with the details

  • Self-starter and track record of delivering results across the finish line

  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
