Job Description
We are looking for a Credit Risk Specialist to join Square's Risk team to help manage credit risk for sellers processing on Square. You will have an understanding of credit and financial analysis, and a desire to apply those skills in creative ways to help Square grow our loans and annual payment processing volume while controlling loss related to defaults and chargebacks. You will conduct reviews of our sellers, assessing credit risk associated with loan and processing activity, and taking appropriate action following our risk policies. You will be comfortable in an operations environment, maintaining quality while ensuring that we follow internal and seller-facing service-level agreements. You will have desire for knowledge—gathering insights, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to projects to push our team forward. Lastly, you will be passionate for Square's mission of Economic Empowerment. You will report to the Credit Manager, and you can be based anywhere in Australia. You will:
Perform credit assessment on business loan applications for Sellers, taking action following Square's risk policies
Monitor business loan accounts to maintain default rate within investor requirements and perform recovery tasks where necessary
Analyse risks associated with different seller business models and card processing patterns
Document decisions and rationale following our underwriting guidelines
Communicate with sellers by phone and email, including investigative-level conversations
Work with internal partners including Legal, Fraud, and Compliance and multiple levels of management
Surface opportunities to improve tools, workflow and customer experience and contribute to Credit Risk initiatives
Participate in ongoing training to maintain current knowledge of AML/KYC requirements and perform AML/KYC responsibilities
Qualifications
You have:
Experience in credit, underwriting, finance, or related
Experience with financial analysis including reviewing financial statements
A creative and eager mindset, and enjoy finding solutions
Desire to help our team achieve its collective goals and best-serve our customers
Willingness to contribute new ideas and learn from and mentor others
Nice to Have
Previous experience in commercial banking or card processing
