Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

The Product Security organization identifies and mitigates unacceptable risk to Square’s products in order to protect our users. We engage in cross-functional collaboration across a wide range of organizations in order to implement security mechanisms into the company’s tech stack. We rely on data to scope problems, work with multiple teams to understand what solution will make the best impact, and drive the delivery from design to implementation.

We are excited to hire Application Security Engineers to secure Square’s codebase. In this role, you will design, build and integrate systems for static code analysis in pursuit of our mission to prevent implementation level security issues from posing a threat to our users.

You will:

  • Work within the team that builds top-of-the-industry static code analysis across our diverse technology stack and set of languages

  • Design, build and integrate tools and capabilities that make our systems more effective

  • Prevent implementation level vulnerabilities from being introduced into Square’s products

  • Automate remediation into the Software Development Lifecycle

  • Help our developers adopt safe practices and frameworks that eliminate entire classes of vulnerabilities

  • Serve other Infosec teams with static code analysis functionality for a variety of use cases

Qualifications

You have:

  • A deep desire to make technology more secure by solving classes of security problems

  • Software Development experience, preferably in Java, Go, Python, or Ruby

Even Better:

  • Interest or experience in Information Security and Application Security in particular

  • Knowledge around how to identify and mitigate web application and API vulnerabilities like in the “OWASP Top 10”
