Acquisition Analyst - Marketing Analytics

  • Los Angeles, CA, USA
  • Employees can work remotely
  • Full-time

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

You will be part of our Marketing Analytics team, which is responsible for Square’s marketing data, acquisition measurement, and strategy/planning. The Acquisition Analyst role is a hybrid of traditional business analytics and technical project management. You will work closely with our business partners, data engineering team, and data science team to develop measurement systems (including attribution and key metrics), support analytics for Square's SEO team, and analyze Square's acquisition efforts.

You Will:

  • Work with partners to define, develop, QA, roll out, maintain, and progress key metrics used to measure Square's acquisition
  • Manage analytics workstreams related to Square's multi-touch attribution model and media mix model, including diagnostic work and projects to improve/progress attribution
  • Support analytics for Square's SEO team
  • Scope new datasets and lead the introduction of new datasets into existing Square systems
  • Work with our data engineering team to develop marketing infrastructure that solves our business needs

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a technical business analytics role
  • Advanced use of SQL and Google Sheets or Excel
  • Technical experience working with data engineering teams and data science teams (or direct data engineering / data science experience)
  • Comfort working with large datasets and solving ambiguous problems
  • Exposure to and understanding of attribution models
  • Experience developing complex business measurement systems and models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability -- particularly when explaining technical matters to less technical partners and vice versa
  • Creativity in developing actionable analyses and recommendations
  • Ability to take on new challenges in the moment
  • Comfort working with multiple partners across time zones
