IP Counsel, (Trademark, Copyright, and Brand)

Square is looking for an attorney with a passion for all things intellectual property to join our IP team. You will join a sub-team of brand-protection IP attorneys and paralegals who protect Square’s brand and manage Square's trademark, copyright, and domain portfolios.
This position will report to the trademarks, copyrights, and domains lead and can be remote or based in any of our physical offices.
Manage Square’s brand protection and enforcement matters, including litigation, oppositions, and cancellations
Draft clearance opinions for new names and logos and help shape Square’s brand strategy
Develop trademark filing strategies and manage prosecution
Counsel internal legal, marketing, sales, and product teams on brand protection issues
Direct outside counsel on non-Patent IP issues worldwide
Help with M&A due diligence
JD degree and membership in at least one state bar
Minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably with some in-house experience
Well-developed skills in U.S. and international trademark clearance, counseling, prosecution, and enforcement
Experience with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy, IP transactions, advertising, marketing and promotions matters, preferably with copyright and right of publicity experience as well
Excellent communication skills
Deep understanding of social media and internet platforms
