Job Description

Square builds tools that allow millions of small businesses around the globe to better manage their businesses. The legacy financial system relies on long-standing and often unfair conventions like outdated fees and onerous applications. We are seamlessly integrating payments and banking in one place, without the frustrations and hassles of incumbent banks.

As the Operations Manager for Issuing, you will bring banking products like Square Debit Card to new markets around the globe. You'll work with the Square Banking team to investigate strategic opportunities, prioritizing growth efforts across products and countries. You will manage relationships with our external card partners and bring operational excellence to our cardholders across a portfolio of card products.

You will:

  • Establish processes and operational SLAs based on an understanding of customer needs, quantitative data, and industry trends

  • Lead Square's relationship with essential banking partners, reporting into the Head of Acquirer and Vendor Operations for Payments

  • Manage daily operations and long-term strategy with partners and suppliers, including commercials and contracts

  • Design monitoring tools and practices to ensure Square and its partners are optimized to maximize success while minimizing costs

  • Work cross functionally across engineering, design, marketing, data science, finance, and many others across a globally distributed team

Qualifications

You have:

  • 6+ years of experience in operations, partner management, sales, or an adjacent role

  • 2+ years experience working in the payments space

  • Collaborative skills: Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and with partners to achieve strategic results

  • Customer-centric focus: you have customer empathy and can translate their needs into outcomes

  • Experience working with issuer processors and gateways

Even better:

  • Proven experience with cross functional partners in international markets

  • Understanding of the contracts process and commercial negotiation
