Job Description

The Platform Infrastructure and Engineering team is the trusted partner for every Square employee, ensuring success by providing the necessary reliable connectivity, tools, technology and platforms. We accelerate product and business progress by enhancing productivity and reducing friction.. In this role you will represent the interests of the business and our engineering teams, using data to communicate those needs, working with engineering to determine features and priorities as to ensure that our platform offering meets our partners needs. The team is looking for a data-oriented person with a cloud and architecture understanding, that can equally connect with product and platform engineers creating a common vision of Square platform and solid feedback channels that foster collaboration.

You Will:

  • Work with platform engineers and engineering managers to promote the most relevant ideas into features.

  • Work with product engineers, platform engineers, engineering managers and program managers to create a road-map for our platform. Plan and prioritize what, and when, the platform teams will deliver.

  • Create processes around understanding and communicating product engineering needs by running surveys, interviews, and other information-gathering techniques.

  • Work with platform engineers and engineering managers to determine product vision.

  • Work with product engineers to measure levels of satisfaction 

  • Work with platform engineers and engineering managers to establish and set Service Level Objectives, and hold engineering teams accountable to Service Level Objectives and delivery.

  • Work with Finance to ensure budget agreement on the product road-map.

  • Promote the platform's work with product engineers to drive adoption.

  • Participate in vendor selection, evaluation and relationship management.


You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience.

  • Experience communicating with different audiences, translating requirements and discussions.

  • A data-driven approach to prioritization and understanding business requirements.

  • Experience leading large projects.

  • Understanding of AWS.

  • Experience understanding technical architecture and design.


Even better: 

  • Experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform). 

  • Experience in product management with platform infrastructure and engineering organizations/teams.

  • Experience working with remote/distributed teams.
