Job Description

As the Business Development Manager in Japan, you will be part of the Business Development team at TIDAL and report into the SVP of Partnerships and Business Development. You will drive growth and profitability for the Japan business through our existing strategic partners and develop new local relationships. We are passionate, motivated, and empowered to make decisions that impact the business. You will have the chance to learn about and define our approach to strategic partnerships, business development and B2B Sales in the music streaming industry while supporting the broader business and product.

You Will:

  • Develop a pipeline of new strategic partnership opportunities to increase awareness and distribution. 

  • Manage TIDAL’s existing local business and partnerships in Japan.

  • Set and execute strategy for engaging with partners across one or more partnership verticals including prioritization, negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships.

  • Be a critical liaison between TIDAL’s global team and local agencies to ensure the delivery of campaigns, earned media, and content that supports brand marketing initiatives. 

  • Work closely with local labels, distributors and artist management teams to drive collaboration and advocate for TIDAL within the music industry 

  • Coordinate the implementation of partnerships with our marketing, product, editorial and artist relations teams.

  • Create exec-level presentations that clearly and concisely communicate TIDAL’s vision and partner opportunities.

  • Monitor market trends and perform competitive analysis and provide partner feedback to cross-functional teams. 

  • Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management regarding progress and obstacles.

  • Project manage local events and productions. 

  • Partner with our local Editor on copywriting and translations.



You Have:

  • 8+ years experience in business development, partnerships in streaming, subscription based apps 

  • Experience leading and building teams

  • Experience in negotiating large contracts, coordinating with legal counsel and cross-functional teams

  • Experience with prospecting and building relationships from the ground up 

  • Understanding of distribution and localized strategies for business development and marketing

  • Experience making data-driven decisions and with financial modeling

  • Networking and client facing experience
