Job Description

The Automation organization is a cross-functional team at Block that accelerates our sellers’ path to value realization by making technology investments that reduce friction and cost and increase personalization across customer interfaces. One of the key jobs to be done by the Automation team is to improve efficiency and effectiveness of our seller-facing teams such as Sales, Account Management and Customer Success. Seller Connections Intelligence organization is an essential team within Automation that optimizes go-to-market manual channels by injecting intelligence and efficiency into Block’s direct communication paths with sellers. The team achieves this by building remarkable data infrastructure, analytics, data science, machine learning solutions and owning related third party tools and data assets.

We are looking for a senior Data Science & Machine Learning leader (just like you!) to lead Seller Connections Intelligence organization, help shape our data & AI strategy and vision, establish excellence in leveraging 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data assets to solve business problems, drive innovation in ML and data solutions, and further grow and scale the talented team of 20+ individual contributors, tech leads and experienced managers. You will use your data science and ML leadership and experience with automating manual channels to improve Block’s capabilities and go-to-market strategy.

You will:

  • Be the expert in automating manual channels such as Sales, Account Management and Customer Success via data and ML solutions

  • Define and own strategy as well as guide long-term thinking in an ambiguous and rapidly-changing data and automation landscape; Engage with innovative start-up data and ML companies to build strategic partnerships and drive innovation

  • Lead development of remarkable and innovative data and ML products by injecting intelligence and efficiency into Block’s communication with sellers

  • Partner with executive and senior management of Sales, Account Management, and Customer Success as well as Product Management and your peers to develop and implement the strategy of automation of manual go-to-market channels at Block

  • Act as a cross-functional leader for all end-to-end efforts related to optimizing manual GTM channels including software engineering and business systems initiatives (e.g., CRM) led by partner teams; Guide and influence the delivery roadmap

  • Hire and develop data and ML professionals including tech leads and managers; Develop efficient processes, ensuring the team is operating with high velocity, ownership, and self-accountability

Qualifications

You have:

  • 10 years of data science and ML experience 

  • 5 years of experience managing individual contributors and managers

  • 5 years of experience in automating business processes via data and ML solutions 

  • Expertise in commercial and B2B leads data assets (D&B, Yelp, ZoomInfo, Experian, etc) and extracting value by building data products for internal stakeholders

  • Solid understanding of data infrastructure and CRM systems (Salesforce)

  • Experience working with product management and software engineering teams to build automation products at scale

  • Experience working with executive stakeholders, great stakeholder management, team management and cross-functional collaboration skills

Even better:

  • Experience with automating manual go-to-market channels (such as Sales, Account Management and Customer Success) via data and ML solutions 

  • Understanding of recent innovations, industry trends and top start-up companies in modern commercial and B2B data and business process automation landscape

  • Management consulting experience in prior roles
