Job Description

The Privacy & Security Liaison (Technical Program Manager) will work extensively with both Counsel and Engineering at Square. The role will require an in-depth understanding of the technologies at Square, privacy principles, and incident response in order to represent the interests of Privacy Counsel during potential data security events. Additionally, you will work with Information Security and product teams to improve awareness and training on how to properly mitigate and respond to incidents. This position will report to the company Business Continuity Manager as part of Privacy Counsel. 

You will:

  • Represent Privacy and Counsel during security incidents involving PII that require cross-functional coordination between Information Security, Product teams, Business Continuity, Privacy Counsel, and, if necessary, the corporate Incident Response Team (IRT)
  • Document potential incidents, track action items following a post mortem and identify thematic areas for privacy and security protection improvement
  • Design and conduct exercises to assure readiness from product teams.
  • Work to identify areas where exercise testing may be improved via process or self-service solutions and work with teams to implement those solutions.
  • Provide solutions to gaps
  • Assess the incident response procedures and readiness of new business units
  • Have a basic understanding of privacy regulation and best practices, such as: GDPR; CCPA; NIST Standard for Security Incidents

Qualifications

 

  • A passion for Square and our customers with a deep understanding of our business
  • 2+ years of experience in Privacy or Incident Response working at a technology-based company
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with an eye toward metrics and reporting
  • An understanding of security and privacy best practices with a focus on privacy and security

Even better:

  • You have a background in privacy, compliance, information security, or engineering 
  • Previous experience working with international teams
