Job Description

This Product Security Engineering team is empowered to build capabilities into the product landscape and provide the tooling to prevent or mitigate risks that could be leveraged by malicious actors. This role will work on security visibility projects, serving Square’s developers by building engaging products that drive security risk visibility and mitigation tools for product owners and their managers. This is a complex problem space we’ve defined as the following long term mission:

  • Make it easy for the Security Organization to highlight security solutions, findings and best practices to the appropriate product owners

  • Make it easy for developer teams to mitigate product risk by supporting their current workflows and helping them make an informed decision about when and how to reduce risk

  • Surface data & metrics to measure how our rate of risk reduction is keeping up with new product initiatives in order to inform future prioritization for the Security Organization collectively

As a Full Stack Software Engineer on this project, you will:

  • Explore, design, build and deploy end-to-end features supporting the above objectives

  • Build internal user facing features for product owners

  • Influence our product roadmap by identifying the features that will drive user engagement and -experience while being biased towards action

  • Collaborate with a team of Software- and Security Engineers to serve our product teams

  • Solve an important problem in the information security space using a full stack toolbox

Qualifications

  • Experience building user facing features and owning the whole stack. Interest in helping on the backend where needed
  • Comfortable with front-end technologies (we use Java, JavaScript/Typescript, React).

  • Be a strong independent contributor to a software project

  • 2 or more years of relevant professional experience

  • Passion for building developer tooling and enhancing the SDLC

  • Demonstrated technical initiative and good communication skills

  • Strong desire to perform and grow as a software engineer

Nice to have:

  • Broad understanding of or strong interest in information security problems or application security
