The Marketing Technology Platform team (MarTech) is rapidly expanding with an abundance of growth and impact opportunities.  As a Software Engineer on MarTech, you will have the opportunity to work on mission-critical marketing and technology initiatives behind Square’s traffic, conversion, and analytic workstreams. As part of the team, you will often solve cross-functional challenges and work with other teams' codebases. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of high-impact projects including experimentation solutions, identity resolution, privacy law compliance, conversion optimization, site performance monitoring and optimization, insights and analytics, and data monitoring pipelines. 

Prior marketing technology experience is not required, but one should be excited to learn the art and science of Digital Marketing.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will:

• Given a business problem, create a technical strategy and deliver with limited guidance

• Have high attention to detail, work closely with business and technical partners to create meaningful change

• Influence your team's software architecture and influence related team's architecture as well 

• Solve complex architecture and business problems. Your solutions are extensible and you work to simplify, optimize, and remove bottlenecks

• Design and code; your solutions yield significant performance, availability, and business value

• Focus on end to end architecture

• Successfully launch software for the business and resolve architectural deficiencies

• Lead projects to improve engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices on your team

• Know your team's architecture in detail and make technical trade-offs between short-term team needs and long-term business needs

• Enjoy solving cross-functional problems and working collaboratively

• Empathy for your customers and colleagues

• Strong communication skills

You have:

• 5+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and in automated delivery of code and infrastructure via the development of CICD pipelines

• Experience with performance testing and optimization 

• Experience building an automated integration test suite

• Experience working with containerization technologies using Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS ECS

• Experience shipping fast, reliable, real-time applications using modern development technologies leveraging a test-driven development pattern

• Are highly collaborative, you love participating in code reviews, and you enjoy upbeat discussions about architecture, design, and user experience. You're also comfortable working with others who are not engineers. 

• Love to experiment and tackle problems. You’re product-minded and growth-focused. You’re happy to question assumptions and back your recommendations with data

• Have a high sense of ownership, invention, high judgment, strong bias for action, and dive deep

• Ability to improvise and develop creative solutions when common approaches fail

• Perpetual curiosity and passion for honing and sharing your craft
