Senior Product Designer, Merchant Risk Experience

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: Seattle, United States

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

The Risk team works to protect the people that trust Square, by minimizing the financial risks that come with running a business. We keep our sellers safe while $25B+ flows through Square annually, and along the way help each other make calculated risk/reward trade offs to grow sellers, and make complicated and sometimes painful processes understandable to all.

We are looking for a Sr. Product Designer to join Risk in delivering critical knowledge and experiences to our sellers that help them make sense of these complex situations in money movement—getting sellers their money faster and protecting them along the way. You will work alongside other product designers, content designers, product managers, researchers, engineering, and legal to increase usability and ease of use across Risk experiences.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Lead from a customer-first perspective, advocating for the customer and approaching problems with an experience mindset.

  • Find opportunities to improve systems and processes to create more value in our business and our customer experience.

  • Facilitate workshops, conduct research, and work cross-functionally to create a collective understanding of our tools, systems and services.

  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and leads across the organization.

  • Create elegant and clear journey maps, service blueprints, and documentation of systems.

  • Create professional, well-thought-out designs using established design systems.

  • Establish and apply metrics, data, design research, user testing, customer support insights, and more to inform experience decisions.

  • Manage and prioritize your workload of multiple projects with different collaborators.

  • Always think about how your work fits into the full ecosystem during all phases of the design process.

You have:

  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.

  • A portfolio of work with large scale initiatives (net new product / campaign / major features) you have led from ideation to final deliverable with little or no guidance from design leadership.

Even better:

Experience in service design (Systems Design, UX/UI Design, Organizational Design).
