Product Marketing Manager, Europe

  • Dublin, D, Ireland
  • Full-time

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

We are hiring a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) to support the European expansion and growth of Square for Retail, a purpose-built Point of Sale solution for retail business owners. You will be the product expert for selected countries in Europe, responsible for defining and optimising the experience for Square sellers, and leading the go-to-market strategy, including pricing, packaging and positioning development.

In this role, you will also help build the Square for Retail business in Europe by leading growth initiatives and future product launches in assigned European markets. In doing so, you will partner with product management, design, research, analytics, product marketing, and marketing teams. This includes understanding each country's small business landscape, tracking market conditions affecting product acquisition and usage, understanding customer segments and the competitive environment, gathering product and customer insights, and feeding those insights and requirements back into the product roadmap. It is the Product Marketing Manager's job to ensure we build the right product to meet the needs of our customers, partner with our sales and marketing teams to deliver the right messaging through the right channels, and collect and leverage customer feedback, insights and data analysis to improve our offering in-market.

You will report to the European Product Marketing Lead for Square for Retail, based in Dublin, Ireland. We provide relocation assistance for anyone moving to Ireland for this role.

You Will:

  • Lead the go-to-market plan and ongoing marketing strategy for Square for Retail in assigned countries
  • Develop product positioning, value propositions, and messaging to be used in product development and marketing campaigns
  • Develop data-driven lifecycle marketing and cross-sell strategies to promote product growth and retention
  • Ensure product releases are launched with appropriate localisation and messaging for each market
  • Ensure all customer-facing teams are on-message and maximising each channel (paid and organic)
  • Be the liaison between the product team and international Sales/Marketing/Customer Success teams to gather feedback and collaborate on local marketing opportunities and partnerships
  • Identify target customers, their needs, and how products will meet those needs through surveys, interviews, and product usage
  • Look for opportunities to develop marketing campaigns and projects unique to a specific market
  • Partner with US Product Marketing Managers to inform pricing and packaging strategies
  • Surface insights that inform the Voice of the European Customer, and partner with PMM Leads, Product Management, Design and Engineering to define the international product strategy and influence the product roadmap
  • Track marketing program performance and optimise through continuous testing
  • Assess competitive offerings and promote ongoing differentiation

You Have:

  • A BA degree or equivalent practical experience
  • The ability to work with European-based sellers/Square team members and global Square colleagues located in various timezones in the US (email, video meetings, in person)
  • 5 + years experience in marketing, specifically working in product marketing, growth or lifecycle marketing, or similar go-to-market positions
  • Passion for Square and desire to help Square Sellers in Europe succeed
  • Experience driving work forward independently
  • Fluency in a non-English European language (e.g. French, Spanish) is preferred but not essential
  • Background in B2B marketing, with experience delivering growth in consumer tech or small to medium business tech is preferred
