Outbound Sales Development Representative

  • Full-time

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

Afterpay is looking for a high-energy, organized individual with advanced communication skills to join our elite team. As an SDR for the SMB team, you will be on the front-lines of a fast-growing ecommerce payments business - talking commerce and payments with business owners and executives at small to medium sized businesses. You should be comfortable on the phone, have excellent email drafting skills, and a genuine curiosity in the operations of various types of online businesses and their structures. You should be highly analytical, constantly thinking of ways to improve, and not accepting things as status quo (i.e. A/B testing email subject lines, looking for creative ways to source leads, etc). Importantly, you should be comfortable with, or quick to learn, the user interfaces of software programs (like Salesforce CRM) that support you in ramping and maintaining your pipeline. SDRs are responsible for setting meetings for AEs by conducting cold outreach to develop and pass on new leads for small and medium sized businesses.

A successful SDR should use personalized efforts to authentically connect with potential customers, spark curiosity, and qualify merchants to hand off to a successful close. We have a team oriented culture where our SDRs will get to learn from/work alongside Account Executives and the SMB Sales Manager.

-Use cold outreach strategies (calls and emails) to develop new leads and opportunities with retailers

-Use tools to identify and source new prospects to target

-Qualifying high volume of prospects to determine addressability

-Enriching a high volume of leads

-Develop & maintain a high-volume sales pipeline of over 200 accounts per month

-Maintain accurate notes & successful hand off processes through Salesforce CRM

-Meet individual & team deadlines, KPIs, and targets

Qualifications

Like us, you’ll be obsessed with our product. You’ll get a kick out of seeing and feeling the impact of your work as more and more people gain financial freedom and retailers grow across the globe.

-1+ year experience in an SDR role

-Proven track record of meeting and exceeding your targets

-Relevant experience in customer service or sales type role

-Demonstrated track record of meeting & exceeding KPIs and targets

-Exceptional communication skills in writing and on the phone

-Excellent organizational & time management skills

-Self-motivated, competitive individual with the ability to work fast & smart

-No fear in cold calling and in speaking with C-level executives

-High level of enthusiasm and energy

-Strong minded individual who finds solutions to problems, rather than avoiding them

-Expertise with common software (GSuite, Salesforce, etc) preferred

-Payments/eCommerce experience preferred
