Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Manager to join our team! In this role, you will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and be responsible for managing the Afterpay ANZ accounting team (a team of 5). Alongside process to ensure accuracy of the monthly ANZ results, as well as the quarterly and full year end close processes.

This is junior Finance Manager role and ideal for someone with 1-2 years experience managing a team, looking for their next challenge! The role will ideally be based in Melbourne where our team is located. Here at Block we have a hybrid approach to work between the office and WFH, with true flexibility.

Financial Leadership:

  • Manage and lead the ANZ month end, quarter end and year end close process for both under US GAAP and IFRS
  • Support the APT & Block group team for the quarterly review, full financial year end and SOX audit processes
  • Support and review the ANZ statutory accounts under IFRS
  • Review monthly and quarterly APRA reporting
  • Review quarterly and year end audit for AFSL reporting
  • Support the tax team for monthly BAS returns
  • Review ANZ balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the ANZ financial accounting teams for month end journals and financial operations
  • Lead and participate in testing new initiatives and products
  • Manage the ANZ financial accounting team and review their workings for completeness and accuracy
  • Deliver best practice work papers, review and documentation
  • Working closely with the product team for continuous new initiatives to ensure appropriate finance operation, compliance and accounting consideration

People Leadership:

  • Work with the APT group accounting teams, Products, Technology etc to identify and drive process improvement opportunities to create operational efficiencies
  • Manage key financial communications associated with ANZ business project work and initiatives
  • Adopt and drive consistent group processes, policies and procedure improvements that support the ANZ business growth

Systems, Process and Policy Leadership:

  • Ensure that key policies are followed and applied consistently by the ANZ accounting teams
  • Ensure compliance across ANZ finance operations

Client and Stakeholder Leadership:

  • Build and manage relationships with key ANZ internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate effective peer, direct report and team management skills

Qualifications

You Have:

  • CA or CPA qualified;
  • Have exceptionally strong financial reporting and analytical skills
  • Prior experience working in multinational, SOX reporting, fast paced and energetic environments
  • Have previous leadership experience, where were able to drive results in a positive and inspiring way, coach and mentor team members
  • Strong communicator and an ability to communicate across all levels of the business, and remote international teams.
  • Strive to continually improve, including making changes to internal accounting processes and controls.
  • Ability to time manage and problem solve effectively in a high-pressure environment, consistently meeting tight deadlines.
  • Focus on exceptional customer service ensuring all stakeholder needs are exceeded
