Job Description

The Strategic Go-to-Market organization is looking for a customer-facing leader to manage a team of Mid-Market Account Managers. The team is focused on the retention and growth of our highest-value existing sellers under $50M in GPV and partners closely with deal teams to establish new sellers from Strategic Sales.

You will support and continue to build a motivated team whose efforts will continue Square's journey up-market within retail and services verticals. You will help develop processes, insights, and metrics to grow the team today and influence program design for the future. You will also manage targeted enablement, ongoing coaching and account manager training. You will also manage highly-impactful cross-functional projects for the greater company.

In addition to lengthy experience as a high performing individual contributor solutioning within the mid-market or enterprise segment, you will have recent experience coaching and developing talent. You will also have experience leading projects, mentoring professionals, and advocating internally for customers. Stand-out candidates find their energy from building things and generally feel comfortable operating in the unknown.

You will:

  • Lead a distributed team of up to eight senior Account Managers

  • Consistently achieve positive revenue outcomes while maintaining a high return on investment

  • Create operational efficiencies through stream-lined repeatable processes

  • Identify and recruit passionate team members to Square

  • Foster collaboration through betas, insights, marketing and more

  • Engage with product teams to serve as the customer voice for upmarket retailers and service providers

  • Always lead with curiosity and empathy to support your team


You Have:

  • 6+ years total experience in Business Development, Sales or Account Management

  • 2+ years experience coaching people and leading projects, formally or informally

  • 2+ years experience working for a retail or retail technology company

  • Experience in a metrics-driven sales organization

  • Experience leading teams in a rapidly growing environments

  • Experience working for a start-up or high growth organization

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and objectives while working in an ever changing environment
