Job Description

The Global Payments Partnerships team leads commercialization and business development for Cash App and Afterpay’s payments products. Our ambitious team develops go-to-market strategy for our commercial products, builds effective partnerships with the largest players in the payments, finance, and technology industries, and drives critical results across the business. We are looking for an experienced Business Strategy and Operations lead to drive our go-to-market strategy across our commercial portfolio and build a world-class operating model for the team.

 The Strategy and Business Operations Manager will develop strategic recommendations and data-based insights for maximizing the effectiveness of our global partnerships program across both existing and prospective partners. As the first operations hire dedicated to the Global Payments Partnerships team, you’ll report to the head of partnerships and partner closely with leaders across business development, sales, sales operations, finance, data science and analytics, and product development.

You will:

  • Drive operational logistics: Build and own the team’s global operating model, including measuring progress against goals, implementing an objective and key result (OKR) process, authoring and disseminating internal performance reporting, maintaining a customer relationship management (CRM) system, and facilitating internal meetings and team collaboration.
  • Build analytical tools: Surface data-based insights through dashboards, automated reporting, and presentations that give both our partners and internal stakeholders real-time information critical to understand both the performance of our partnership and the health of our business. Drive improvements to our data analysis infrastructure and processes, in deep partnership with teams across product, sales operations, data science and analytics. 
  • Commercialize products: Develop strategy for emerging products by analyzing business opportunities, identifying competitive dynamics, and synthesizing product performance data. Build business cases, refine product pricing, and develop incentive structures for our new commercial products.
  • Drive partnership and product positioning: Leverage data to inform product positioning and how to optimize our existing partnerships or win new partnerships. Lead complex analyses on our commercial products, develop case studies, and design experiments to improve product and partner performance.
  • Set strategic priorities: Conduct analyses that establish the strategic priorities for our partnerships team and inform product development, partnership and deal models, and budgeting, among others.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of strategy and business operations experience including significant time in a leadership role, preferably in management consulting, payments, or a fast-moving technology company. 
  • Distinctive problem-solving, strategic and analytical capabilities, and experience building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate, present, and craft compelling narratives to influence internal and external technical and business stakeholders across diverse teams at all levels.
  • Ability to manipulate data and work with analytics tools (Mode, Tableau, Snowflake, Excel) turning them into insightful business recommendations to optimize strategy.
  • Ability to work independently and drive strategic projects from ideation to execution in a highly matrixed global organization.
  • Ability to lead large, complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Business acumen and a strong understanding of product strategy. You excel at identifying business opportunities and navigating commercial challenges. 
  • Deep comfort operating in the ambiguity of an ever-evolving product that operates at scale globally. 
  • BS/BA required; MBA or Masters degree a plus
  • Proficiency with SQL and Salesforce a plus
