Job Description

As the Oakland Workplace Experience Manager (WPX), your role is to ensure that the office is operating effectively every day, while building an environment that connects Block employees to each other and the community. You will lead an onsite team and collaborate with key partners across the company to help deliver a best in class workplace experience. Our WPX manager is a creative problem solver, poised under pressure, and a fierce advocate for the Oakland community.

You Will:

  • Facilitate day-to-day workplace operations

  • Responsible for building localized programs that connect Blocks with each other and their communities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Culinary, Facilities, Events, AV, etc) to ensure those areas of the office and events are running smoothly and efficiently

  • Collaborate with our central services team to ensure we are building a global workplace experience program

  • Create meaningful connections and experiences among employees, potential candidates and guests 

  • Build trusted relationships with local team, site leads, and community partners 

  • Lead the team seating moves, adds, and changes process

  • Responsible for managing the office budget and reconciling it monthly

  • Manage work order queue and ensure team is resolving all workplace tickets in adherence to established SLAs

  • Coordinate and manage vendors on site (janitorial, plants, landscaping, parking, furniture)

  • Create inspiring, engaging, and purposeful experiences that contribute back to our Square seller ecosystem and company purpose of economic empowerment. 

  • Manage a community event space with retail operations

  • Work closely with our Global Social Impact team on community initiatives  

  • Manage multiple public and internal events per week

  • Work with local artists to curate pieces for the in office and public gallery spaces

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as Office Operations Manager, Project manager, Workplace Experience Manager, or Community Manager

  • Experience working in retail, restaurants, and hotels a plus

  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, and strong public speaking skills

  • Demonstrated administrative experience supporting a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work on a team and independently

  • Extremely reliable and with impeccable attention to detail

  • Thrive in an environment with multiple different projects, prioritizing appropriately

  • Strong vendor management experience

  • Event management experience
