We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our strategic partnership merchant product team at Afterpay.
One of the key growth drivers for Afterpay and Block is our ability to form key partnerships and integrate deeply with strategic players to offer unique experiences to our end users. This role leads the team that builds these experiences - past examples include Afterpay’s integrations with Shopify, Stripe, and Square. This role encompasses all of our geographies globally to expand our reach to sellers from small business to big enterprises.
As a Senior Product Manager on the Square team you will impact millions of businesses that are expanding their sales online or in the real world. You will need to be both customer-centric and data-driven, able to balance the needs of our customers, partners and internal stakeholders. You will define success metrics and go-to-market strategies to create value for our customers, partners and Block. You will lead development of new experiences as you partner with our business development, engineering, design, analytics, and other teams across Block to release remarkable seller experiences.
Lead ideation, design, and technical development of features that will empower sellers to onboard and activate Afterpay and other Block services
Drive investment decisions within your team, and make and justify annual recommendations on investment-level for your product area
Define the product strategy and roadmap around the Afterpay seller experience with strategic partnerships in conjunction with our business development teams
Work with merchant-facing internal stakeholders, direct and utilize user research, data analysis, and market research to identify high priority seller and business opportunity areas
Validate whether product strategies will have the intended impact with a combination of qualitative user research and quantitative experimentation.
Gain agreement from executives and other senior team leaders
Edit project requirements, clarify implementation details, and make strategic tradeoff decisions as needed
Communicate and drive alignment on strategies and roadmaps within your team and with stakeholder teams at Square
- 5+ years of product management experience or equivalent, including 3+ years software product management
A strong sense of user empathy and interest in supporting independent businesses.
Strong design and product sensibilities
Experience developing product strategies and breaking them down into clearly scoped roadmaps and requirements.
Experience testing and launching products at scale with a high bar for experimental rigor.
Experience applying data to drive personalized experiences at scale
Ability to understand technical systems and how they operate, not necessarily in an engineering capacity, but enough to spot potential issues and make trade off decisions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clarity from ambiguity and distill complex issues into easy to understand narratives.
Demonstrated excellence in using principled decision making to manage diverse stakeholders, including peers and executive leadership.
