Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.
Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

Mobile Payment Experience builds SDKs for developers that build applications that take payments with Square – either talking to Square hardware with our Reader SDK, storing a card in buyer-facing applications through our In-App Payments SDK, or using Square Point of Sale with our app-switch API. We work with the Checkout Flow team, the Connected Device Experience team, and the Mobile Security team to create, package, and document Square's code in our applications into ergonomic and simple SDKs that handle the complexities of taking card payments.
As part of the Mobile Payment Experience team, you'll build SDKs that serve Square's products and independent and developed applications that Square wouldn't build. You'll bring the same product from Square products to building developer tools and libraries that allow our customers never to miss a sale.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Be proficient in Swift or Objective-C for development (we use both).
- Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking to user interfaces and whatever's in between.
- Build high availability and resilient systems that accept and report payments regardless of network or device conditions.
- Collaborate with iOS, Android, and Server engineers to ship features.
- Work with product managers and designers to refine and define product scope.
- Respond to customer feedback to improve our products.
