Job Description

Afterpay is looking for a Sales Strategy Director for the North America Sales organization. The Sales Strategy Director will be a key member of the NA Sales Leadership team and will partner closely with the Head of North America Sales and across the Global Enterprise Merchant Team to set long term strategy, test and iterate growth initiatives, create processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency, and build relationships to facilitate cross-functional coordination. The role requires a strategic mindset, with the ability to switch gears between analytical, creative, and sales activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Initiatives / Special Projects

    • Lead key initiatives by partnering with and influencing stakeholders within and outside of the North America Sales Org, including (but not limited to) leaders in Product Management, Sales Operations , Marketing, Legal, Finance and Business Development.

    • Help drive high-functioning and high-performing leadership teams across the NA Sales Org and Global Enterprise Merchant team. 

  • Business Strategy & Communications

    • Co-create and articulate the NA Sales business strategy to internal/external audiences and operationalize strategic recommendations across the organization.

    • Keep a close pulse of the customer and market, surfacing key insights and making strategic recommendations as appropriate.

  • Operating Cadence / Rhythm of the Business

    • Develop and implement operating mechanisms to drive alignment, accountability and coordination across teams.

    • Analyze data and produce meaningful insights and recommended tactics to increase the success of the business strategy. Shepherd the development of a data-driven decision-making culture.

    • Create an inclusive and efficient way to establish strategic priorities and plan resources needed.

  • Leader & Trusted Delegate

    • Lead key sales teams including (but not limited to) Sales Coordinators, Sales Development Representatives (SDRs), and Sales Strategy & Operations Managers.

    • Act as the representative for the NA Sales Orgs in various leadership meetings and in internal and external forums as appropriate.

    • Act as the ‘subject matter expert’ on external merchant pitches or account management meetings as appropriate. 

Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant Strategy, Operations, and/or Retail and eCommerce experience

  • Background in client service, account management or sales preferred - must be able to lead and manage external client relationships

  • Experience managing teams and coordinating cross-functionally to deliver business outcomes

  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills, combined with superb communication skills

  • Strong organizational/project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
