The Pricing team empowers sellers with remarkable tools that give them the confidence to grow their business. Our full-stack team owns the rules-based discount and tax logic, backend services, and seller-facing configuration that help sellers drive their business. We take a data-driven approach to measuring performance to ensure a fast and reliable transaction experience in our Point of Sale apps. We are distributed across North America and rely heavily on collaborating through documents and async communication (you won’t spend all day in meetings). As an Android Software Engineer on our team you will:

• Work with cross-functional collaborators to design and iterate on new pricing features that help sellers thrive. Think discounts, service charges, bundling, sales, data-driven decisions, and more.

• Work with a wide range of teams at Square to provide platform support for applications and features in vertical spaces like Restaurants, Retail, and Invoices.

• Design and develop forward-looking enhancements to our Android pricing engine.

• Own the performance of our Android pricing engine to ensure that we maintain an excellent seller and customer experience as it evolves.

• Help our team iterate on our process.

• Help other engineers learn and grow through mentoring, code reviews, and pairing.

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, shipping, and supporting Android applications

• A strong background in Kotlin and Java

• A deep understanding of Android design patterns

• Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional collaborators on a distributed team

• Skilled at breaking down complex projects into smaller pieces that multiple engineers can work on in parallel

• Strong product sensibilities, user empathy, and a desire to deliver remarkable software

• A desire to grown and learn

Bonus points for:

• Experience designing and delivering multiplatform software (Kotlin Multiplatform)

• Experience with build pipelines and developer tooling
