Capital Markets Associate
As a member of the Capital Markets team, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic planning and capital markets needs of the various lending businesses within Block. Block has lending vertices that serve small businesses and vertices that serve consumers. Included are more developed products like Square Loans to small business and Afterpay receivables to consumers as well as newer products in development like Cash Borrow, Term Loans and Advances to International Square sellers.
This candidate will work closely with the Head of Capital Markets and other members of the team to assist with funding development and structured finance activities including forward flow arrangements and warehouse lines of credits. This candidate will maintain the operations of the investor program, assisting with any questions that may arise from third party investors and their vendors, liaising with internal stakeholders on any program changes to the various lending programs and working with the counsel team on the execution and amendments of credit and sales agreements. This candidate will also compile due diligence materials for the sourcing of new investors including presentations on the company and lending products and analyses of collateral performance.
Establish and manage relationships with institutional investors and lenders for Block’s various lending products
Compile due diligence materials for the lending programs
Liaise with engineering, compliance and counsel on the operations of onboarding a new investor
Work with data team to understand loan performance metrics
Coordinate with the product team and other internal stakeholders to develop new and improve existing lending products
Maintain and own policies, operational procedures and risk oversight
Contribute to Block’s growth strategy, product roadmap, and performance tracking
A Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field
5+ years of relevant industry experience with institutional sales, debt capital markets, structured finance, and/or investor relations
Superior understanding of the lending and fin-tech industry
Superior organization skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $141,500 - USD $172,900
Zone C: USD $133,800 - USD $163,600
Zone D: USD $121,700 - USD $148,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
