Job Description

We're building a bitcoin wallet for the next 100M bitcoin users - importantly for people around the world who likely haven’t yet used bitcoin as a savings tool or for its payments capabilities yet. Our goal is economic empowerment -- starting with bringing easy-to-use, reliable wallet that helps people around the world own and manage their bitcoin, rather than having to rely on a number of tools and services that don’t work well together and are challenging to use for a wide global audience.

We're assembling a team experienced in an extremely wide range of disciplines, including business, operations, design, software, hardware, security, and so many other aspects of product delivery. 

We are hiring a Partnerships Lead to define the role that partners will have in helping customers safely and simply own their own bitcoin and send/receive money across borders, and in helping Block reach customers globally.

This role can be be based anywhere remotely in the United States, as well as in a number of countries around the world.

You Will:

  • Lead a partnership strategy that helps (a) Block build a seamless customer experience (product partnerships) and (b) enables Block and partners to together reach customers (sales/distribution/support experience)

  • Create shared value between customers, Block and its partners: Find ways through strategic partnerships that Block can bring value to partners, ranging from crypto exchanges, digital payments partners and telecommunications partners.

  • Partner with product, design and engineering teams to establish API-level requirements that enable partners to build into our ecosystem.

  • Identify partner opportunities and execute partnerships across a broad global remit - from Africa, Europe, LATAM, Asia and the US, among other regions.

  • Not only identify and define partnerships, but also manage the full post-deal-signing relationship, including monitoring, evolution and growth of the partnership.

  • Play a driving force, alongside the product team, in defining the monetization strategy of the wallet, balancing incremental acquisition guided by partners with strong retention.

  • Champion the customers' needs across different customer segments

  • Build a partner ecosystem that scales.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 7+ years experience in Partnerships or Strategic Business Development (non-sales BD).

  • Experience building partnerships in financial services / money management, Healthcare, Insurance and other regulated industries.

  • Built and managed partnerships across numerous global geographies.

  • API-driven product-driven partnership experience (not resell or licensing deals).

  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of partnership - not just up until deal-signing.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: strategic partnerships w/ telecommunications providers, e-commerce, trading platforms, product-focused payments partnerships.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone B: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone C: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone D: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
