Job Description
Come join the team that empowers our Square Sellers to sell goods and services online! The eCommerce Network Operations team works with our partners to deliver a highly available, reliable, and global commerce platform. As a member of this team, you’ll have exposure and scope to work on different problems throughout Square. We're looking for an individual with a diverse skill set which includes strong problem solving skills, a networking background, experience with datastores or databases, and coding experience with various APIs.
As an NetOps Engineer on the eCommerce Network Operations team, you will work with product teams to deliver solutions combining on-premises, cloud, and SaaS resources while using an eye for performance, security, and cost. You will participate in an on-call schedule and work to reduce elements of toil through automation and process improvements. Candidates should have excellent troubleshooting skills and familiarity with industry-standard monitoring and data visualization tools.
Qualifications
- Experience configuring network switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls
- Strong Linux systems background (preferably Red Hat/CentOS based)
- Track record of solving toil and scaling problems with automation
- Familiarity with data stores such as MySQL, Ceph, Cassandra, and ElasticSearch
- Multi-cloud awareness with AWS and Google Cloud
- Participation in an on-call rotation

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $144,500 - USD $176,700
Zone C: USD $136,900 - USD $167,300
Zone D: USD $129,300 - USD $158,100

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
