Job Description

Cash App's People team is looking for a content strategist to lead in-house editorial planning and channel optimization to engage, inspire and inform our 3,000 global employees and counting. With a keen eye for both the big picture and details, you will oversee the content strategy as part of Cash App's Employee Communications & Engagement team. At Cash App, Employee Communications powers our voice and keeps our globally distributed workforce informed and connected to our purpose.

The Editorial and Content Manager will work within a larger team and report to the Employee Communications Lead. You are comfortable working in a distributed, matrixed environment with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt and manage changing priorities. Establishing relationships across Cash App and Block teams will be important to your success.

You Will: 

  • Curate and develop content strategies that keep Cash App employees feeling connected to our purpose and each other, understand our business and products, and feel inspired about our path forward.
  • Support the ongoing development of the company intranet and the editorial planning to surface relevant, engaging content.
  • Oversee the content creation process, manage workloads, lead interview review cycle and measure impact.
  • In addition to editing and strategy, you'll develop short- and long-form content and for the intranet, Slack, scripts, presentations and announcements.
  • Guide the creation of a style guide for internal storytelling and a framework that ensures equitable coverage throughout Cash.
  • Manage editorial calendar to guarantee a regular schedule of dynamic content across owned channels while providing visibility and clarity to partners across the organization.
  • Partner with teams across the organization, from Design to Communities to Engineering, to explore a diverse range of story ideas.
  • Manage the daily responsibilities of contract and freelance writers.
  • Support executive communications and issues management.
  • Manage partnerships with creative agencies and in-house design teams to support employee-exclusive assets.

Qualifications

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of direct editorial experience working for industry-leading brands or publications.
  • Experience with creative storytelling with a keen ability to uncover and shape a narrative.
  • An ability to compliment Cash App's bold approach to copywriting in our internal work.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills combined with speed, flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Experience driving an editorial strategy and influencing others toward your vision
  • An ability to shift between creating brand-oriented content to inspire and distilling large amounts of complex business information into engaging content.
  • An understanding of an evolving digital landscape and experience with exploring new platforms that bring editorial to life—experience working in different CMS platforms. Bonus points for Contentful experience!
  • Experience working in a large and diverse team: expressing ideas across levels, managing differing points of view, influencing others while maintaining relationships -- you're a collaborator!

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $125,600 - USD $153,600
Zone B: USD $116,800 - USD $142,800
Zone C: USD $110,500 - USD $135,100
Zone D: USD $100,500 - USD $122,900

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
