Job Description

Square is looking for a results-oriented and energetic individual who thrives in fast-growing and challenging business development environments. You will help grow our Build With Square Platform by sourcing, negotiating, and executing partnership agreements with software platforms who can leverage Square’s APIs to provide Sellers with a wide range of tools to start, run and grow their business.

You will be part of a fast-growing organization that needs your business development best-practices and experience. This position will involve partnership prospecting, negotiation, as well as working with cross-functional stakeholders across Square to scale up partner acquisition, partner launch and product distribution. You will need to be well-versed on all the different possible ways new and growing platforms can partner with Square, including both technical and business feasibility. You will need grit and adaptability to an ever-changing API ecosystem and competitive landscape. 

You will:

  • Source, negotiate and sign new partnership agreements at scale

  • Be results oriented, have a focus on managing deal flow and closing a large number of new platform partnership opportunities

  • Become a Square API product expert who is able to speak about Square’s partnership strategy and platform ecosystem

  • Build relationships and overcome obstacles through creative problem solving

  • Operate in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

  • Have a positive, energetic and enthusiastic approach towards achieving goals & objectives

Qualifications

You have:

  • BA/BS required

  • 3-4 years of professional experience, including 1-2 years focused on partnerships and business development within a technology company

  • Proven ability to negotiate and close deals ranging from tactical, mid-size opportunities, to strategic, large and complex partners

  • Highly entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to thrive under minimal guidance

  • Ability to think and communicate creatively, thoughtfully, and with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels

  • Excellent track record of success in highly matrixed environments

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $141,500 - USD $172,900
Zone C: USD $133,800 - USD $163,600
Zone D: USD $121,700 - USD $148,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
