We build the best physical financial products in the world - starting with cards. We are the only team within Cash App that delivers hardware to our customers. Our innovative card customization design experience and card products have steadily driven the adoption of Cash Card as the top-of-wallet spending device for our customers.
As a member of the team, you will own the design, implementation and improvement of Cash Card products and features. Not only will you get to ship awesome new products and features, you'll also optimize them to provide the best experience to our customers and maximize their engagement. We build our services over Cash App's ever-evolving infrastructure, and as a senior engineer on the team, you will embrace these changes and scale our card stack to enable future evolvability.
- Be actively involved in setting the strategic direction for the team and growing the product roadmap.
- Be object oriented, fearlessly take on new technical challenges and drive deliverables.
- Build highly performant systems that can handle millions of card orders per month.
- Demonstrate rigor in high code quality, good test coverage and other engineering best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, design, product, data science and our operations team to design new service features.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with robust observability so the team can iterate quickly and take calculated risks without negative impact reaching our customers
- Lift the skills and expertise of others on the team as a technical leader
- Build incrementally, test everything, and deploy often
- 8 or more years of software development or equivalent experienc
- Experience building highly scalable, low-latency global systems
- A sense of developer empathy that reflects into the product and feature design.
- A vested interest in advancing Cash App's vision of building for economic empowerment
- Growth mindset and a healthy comfort with ambiguity

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
