Software Engineering Manager, Omnichannel Catalog

  • Full-time

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

In today’s world, expanding to omnichannel is table stakes for growing sellers. In some cases, this just means selling both in-person and online. But increasingly there are further opportunities that come from integrating with channels like Google, Meta, and Tiktok where buyers are shopping. The pandemic has only accelerated this need for sellers.

Over the past few years, we’ve made a great deal of progress in enabling omnichannel commerce, but the work happened with urgency and iteratively in a company with roots in the brick & mortar space. In some cases this has resulted in experiences that don’t feel cohesive for our sellers. Some sellers have shared feedback that interfacing with different parts of Square can feel like interfacing with different companies.

2023 is our year for effecting fundamental change by investing in omnichannel at the platform level. As a key leader on the Omnichannel Catalog team, you will lead a team working on this top priority mission for Square. • Help grow a culture where the team shows up excited and energized every day

  • Establish and uphold practices and processes that lead to exceptional products being delivered

  • 4+ years experience managing high performing software engineering teams
