Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at TBD. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the development and maintenance of our decentralized financial platform. Your responsibilities as an Infrastructure Engineer include:

  • Providing technical expertise and leadership in the design, construction, and upkeep of our software and cloud infrastructure.
  • Architecting and implementing robust infrastructure, monitoring/logging systems, security/compliance measures, and disaster recovery/business continuity plans for the platform.
  • Utilizing your knowledge of public cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code tools, container orchestration systems, and scripting/automation languages to create and maintain a highly automated, self-service infrastructure that enables developers to efficiently develop and deploy applications.
  • Collaborating closely with TBD’s product teams (Platform Engineering's customers) to gain a deeper understanding of their requirements and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Sharing ownership of the platform, contributing to its success and continuous improvement.

You will report directly to the Product Engineering Lead of TBD, Hetong Li, and have the opportunity to build a best-in-class platform product. 

Key Technologies we utilize:

  • Public cloud platforms (primarily AWS)
  • Container Orchestration (AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, Kubernetes)
  • Datastores and event systems (AWS Aurora, Kafka, etc.)
  • Application languages and scripting/Infrastructure automation languages (Kotlin, Go, Python, JavaScript)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
  • Continuous Integration, Deployment & Delivery (CI/CD) (Github Actions, etc.)
  • Observability and monitoring (Datadog, etc.)

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following:

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of infrastructure engineering experience.
  • A strong drive to excel as an infrastructure engineer, with a keen interest in building and growing a new platform.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the programming languages we use.
  • Proven experience working on coding projects in collaboration with other engineers on your team and customer teams.
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring others, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Familiarity with some of the technologies we use (as listed above) and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to enhancing team collaboration, efficiency, and effectiveness (including your own).
  • Demonstrated kindness, maturity, and empathy towards your customers and colleagues, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
