Job Description

The Product Engineering team is responsible for delivering the overall product experience for our Tidal App. This includes ensuring that our app is reliable, intuitive, and engaging, and that it delivers dynamic and personalized experiences to users.

For this position you will be responsible for implementing dynamic and social features of the app. This requires close collaboration with foundational teams at Tidal. Our focus is on supporting and keeping systems for experimentation, data gathering, user interfaces, and user experience up and running.

We are committed to deliver the best user experience across all main platforms, including iOS, Android, and Web.

This role involves working with a team of engineers, product managers and designers to create and implement features and functionality that provide an optimal user experience. You will design, develop, and maintain the web application, ensuring high-quality code, and scalability. 

The areas of responsibility include:

  • Developing and maintaining the web app (web client and desktop app) using React.js
  • The team works on many features in TIDAL’s music streaming apps: Presenting dynamic and personalized content, onboarding, My Collection (users’ favorites and playlists), public user profiles, Live, My Activity
  • Provide simple solutions to solve problems, write code which is easy to understand and maintain, for others and yourself
  • Care deeply about performance and accessibility
  • Stay updated on frontend technology, partner with the Core Web, QA and dev-ops teams to provide stable releases of application
  • Familiarity with CDP (customer data platform) or similar frameworks for eventing
  • Participate in product definition and road map decisions
  • Collaborating with the design team to ensure optimal user experience


  • 5+ years of experience developing production web applications
  • Advanced JavaScript and Typescript knowledge
  • Experience using frameworks and patterns in large JavaScript applications (like React/Redux, Vue, Angular or similar)
  • Experience writing tests (unit-, integration- and end-to-end tests)
  • Experience with and knowledge of web standards
  • Cross-browser development and debugging skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English as English is our company language
  • Bonus points:

  • Knowledge about Electron and Node.js
  • Interest in HiFi audio and/or other music interests
  • Global and remote

    TIDALs development teams are located in Oslo/Norway, but many of our new colleagues are remote - mostly from other European countries (Spain, Germany, Poland)

  • Permanent flexible work location - no mandatory office presence
  • Option to work up to 45 days/year from other (whitelisted) countries
  • Can assist in relocating to Norway
