Job Description

As a member of the Capital Markets team, you will support the strategic planning and capital markets needs of different lending businesses within Block. Block has lending vertices that serve small businesses and vertices that serve consumers. Included are more developed products like Square Loans to small business and Afterpay receivables to consumers and newer products in development like Cash Borrow, and loans and advances to international Square sellers. 

You will manage third-party institutional relationships, help source prospective lenders and investors and explore new structures to fund Block’s lending products. You will support the continued expansion of Block’s different lending businesses and help product teams improve lending products across the Block ecosystem. You will report to the head of Capital Markets.

 

Main Responsibilities include: 

  • Design, document, and implement fundraising structures and strategies including forward flow arrangements, warehouses, securitizations and other leverage facilities

  • Identify and maintain relationships with institutional investors and leverage providers

  • Advise management and key stakeholders on market color and investor sentiment for strategic decision-making 

  • Contribute to Block’s funding strategy, product roadmap, and performance tracking by analyzing and evaluating current systems, capabilities and structures

  • Partner with Block Treasury, Investor Relations and Finance & Strategy teams to maintain a framework for balance sheet management across lending products 

  • Coordinate with the product and data teams to understand asset performance metrics and develop reporting for tracking purposes

  • Maintain and own policies, operational procedures for risk oversight

  • Represent Block Capital Markets at different conferences and panels

  • Provide mentoring to individuals and teams to build capital markets and funding capabilities

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience with institutional sales, debt capital markets, structured finance, and/or investor relations

  • Experience in consumer and small business lending

  • Experience in the execution and management of financing transactions (loan sales agreements, warehouse lending agreements) 

  • Leadership skills with a proven ability to innovate

  • Superior organization and time management skills partnering with a global team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $171,200 - USD $209,200
Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $198,000
Zone D: USD $152,700 - USD $186,700
