Product Manager: Square for Franchises
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. As Square expands to meet the needs of a broader seller base, as well as their employees and buyers, it is critical to invest in value added services that enable these sellers to customize and augment their own experiences with Square Point of Sale. As the Franchise Suite team, we work on making the Square ecosystem scale to meet the needs of our largest customers.
As a Product Manager on our Square for Franchises team, you will develop the strategy, set the roadmap, and determine the requirements — in collaboration with design, engineering, product marketing, and analytics — that drive impact for large organizations running their multi-location businesses using Square. Our approach at Square is both customer-focused and data-driven. You will need to dig in to deeply understand our customers and their needs, define and analyze data, and guide our world-class team to move fast and ship remarkable solutions. You’ll join a fully distributed team with co-workers in Canada, United States, Ireland, and Moldova.

Develop innovative and industry-leading products across desktop, mobile, and native platforms that uniquely serve the Customer Engagement needs of Franchises and other multi-entity businesses.
Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and struggles through direct interviews and in working with GTM (e.g. Sales, AM, CS) teams around the company.
Work with Design, Engineering, Analytics, and Product Marketing to craft the vision, strategy, and measurable goals for your product area, and evangelize around the company.
Drive prioritization and execution of the product roadmap.
Operate cross-functionally and build strong partnerships with product and business teams across the company in delivering excellent products and services.
Influence key stakeholders throughout Square in order to align intent, resources, and prioritization.
Report on progress and raise key risks/issues to Square leadership.
• 5+ years of product management experience.
• You’re regarded as an effective communicator, both written and verbal.
• Track record of building consensus and delivering results with cross-functional partners.
• Experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs.
• You’re able to push through obstacles, and ready to roll up your sleeves wherever needed.
• You’re excellent tactically, with a proven track record of shipping simple, elegant products at scale.
• You have a great ability to absorb and apply data to your decision making.
• Experience working through problems with high ambiguity and without a definitive answer.
• Worked on industry-leading products that have gained a strong followership and product loyalty.
