Job Description

Block is seeking an exceptional attorney to help manage international corporate governance. If hired, you will join a team in charge of  international governance and play a key role in ensuring Block’s compliance with the laws and regulations in non-U.S. jurisdictions, will coordinate and prepare for the relevant international board meetings and approvals, will manage governance requirements for our regulatory licenses and will have the opportunity to build out new systems and procedures and scope new jurisdictions for Block’s international expansion.

We are looking for a highly adaptable, organized and self-motivated individual who can handle fast-paced projects independently!

You Will:

  • Coordinate international board meetings and prepare pre-read deliverables, draft minutes, keep on top of and document governance requirements in the relevant jurisdictions and ensure that such requirements are met at each meeting (including for any new jurisdictions as Block expands)
  • Work cross-functionally on a variety of legal matters to support business development and innovation in our international markets
  • Manage international filings, including with respect to audits and annual report filings
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with corporate governance requirements for our international financial licenses
  • Liaise and coordinate with product counsel to ensure compliance with governance requirements under our regulatory licenses
  • Provide support for cross-border M&A transactions, capital contributions, and other special corporate projects. 
  • Manage projects effectively, with a team-oriented approach

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 5+ years of relevant corporate experience at a major law firm and/or in-house experience, with experience working with large public companies being a plus (a combination of both in-house and law firm practice experience is even better!)
  • Familiarity with non-U.S. corporate governance requirements
  • Excellent research and writing skills and project management ability
  • Ability to be the primary in-house attorney on certain corporate projects, including handling multiple simultaneous transactions
  • A JD and active membership in at least one state bar
  • Superior interpersonal skills, ability to be nimble and team-first attitude
  • Sound and practical business judgment
  • Strong decision-making abilities and attention to detail, sometimes under time pressure

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $188,400 - USD $230,200
Zone C: USD $178,200 - USD $217,800
Zone D: USD $168,100 - USD $205,500
