The Checkout team at Square has a mission to help sellers make and close sales anywhere and anyhow buyers want to buy. We make this possible by building a shared client checkout platform for all of Square’s checkout experiences.

We’re looking for a resourceful and curious Engineering Manager for Square’s iOS Checkout team. The iOS Checkout team and its partner Android team together provide Sellers large and small around the world with a simple, seamless checkout experience that works both on and offline. Working closely with your Product and Design partners, you will encourage and inspire a strongly collaborative team of engineers to directly design, build, and roll out new checkout capabilities across the Square ecosystem. You will also partner closely with application development teams to prioritize, review, co-develop, and integrate new functionality into the checkout experience.

You will:

• Coach, guide, and inspire the iOS engineers responsible for the mobile Checkout platform that brings Square Buyers and Sellers together to make a sale wherever they are.

• Make decisions with direct bearing on the course and success of the product, in consultation with your engineers and close collaboration with design and product management partners.

• Nurture and ensure a high level of engineering quality through well-structured client APIs, reusable components, and well-tested, maintainable software.

• Partner with product owners to define and evangelize engineering and product strategies that will influence the direction of Square’s commerce platform.

• Work directly with partner application teams to drive the prioritization, technical design, and high-quality execution of checkout

You have:

• 5+ years software development experience.

• 5+ years of experience managing mobile engineering teams.

• Experience collaborating with stakeholders and driving execution across team and organizational boundaries.

• Experience creating, delivering, and operating critical iOS client capabilities at scale. 

• Strong understanding of the fundamentals of delivering successful software in a complex organizational environment

• A desire to build platform capabilities that our merchants will depend on every day to run their business.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $198,000 - USD $297,000
Zone B: USD $188,100 - USD $282,100
Zone C: USD $178,200 - USD $267,400
Zone D: USD $168,300 - USD $252,500
