Job Description

Square Financial Services, Inc ("SFS") is Block's bank. We opened in March 2021 and provide lending and FDIC insured deposits services to small businesses on a nationwide basis. The SFS Strategy and Product team enables the bank with modern infrastructure and high-quality services, and is responsible for developing and executing on the Bank’s strategic roadmap. We aim to become Block's bank in both name and practice, and focus on empowering the small businesses and consumers served by the Block ecosystem. 

SFS is looking for a Program Manager to join our Product and Strategy team and help build SFS to be Block’s Bank of Choice. Today, SFS supports small businesses.  Going forward SFS will integrate across the Block ecosystem and support product teams outside SFS with their banking needs. As the Program Manager you own the relationship with product teams across Block. You will demonstrate a high degree of empathy for these product teams and the customers we jointly serve. You will bring creativity to capitalize on our shared opportunities. In this role you will report to the Strategy and Business Development Lead and work closely with other SFS teams to efficiently run our programs and Bank products. 

As a Consumer Banking  Program Manager on the SFS team,

You Will:

  • Own the SFS relationship with other Block product teams for the programs you’ll oversee. 

  • Onboard new products into the SFS ecosystem. 

  • Understand the products, business strategy and roadmap for the Block Business Units you support. Ensure the Bank’s strategy and business development team is apprised of developments in these areas. Work with cross-functional teams to implement & deliver on the product roadmap.

  • Oversee change management for your assigned products across such areas as marketing, communications, credit and user experience. Working along other stakeholders, you will review and approve changes in these areas. 

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify risks and recommend solutions that meet cross functional goals.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure product development aligns with SFS policy as well as meeting all regulatory, legal, and operational standards. 

  • Lead remediation of issues including self identified issues, audit and compliance findings, etc. 

  • Support Bank Management through Safety and Soundness examinations.

  • Identify, create and present business generation metrics for management and board reporting for the programs you support. 

  • Identify and execute projects to support bank operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of operations / business development / program management or equivalent experience related to financing solutions / banking as a service.

  • Experience with consumer or commercial lending products. 

  • Experience resolving complex and multi party negotiations. 

  • Growth mindset and works well with limited supervision across a wide range of key stakeholders.

  • You lead by influence -- not authority -- to foster trust across the organization.

  • Strong project management,relationship management and organizational skills, working collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure the smooth implementation and launch of new products and services

  • Ability to proactively identify and mitigate risk across a variety of disciplines including regulatory compliance, legal, credit and operations. 

  • Ability to manage multiple work streams that have ambiguous requirements.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Even Better:

  • Experience working under a regulated financial institution is a plus.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $111,700 - USD $167,500
Zone B: USD $103,800 - USD $155,800
Zone C: USD $98,200 - USD $147,400
Zone D: USD $89,400 - USD $134,000
