- Full-time
Company Description
Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.
Job Description
The purpose of the Proto team is to accelerate the world’s transition to a more open economy by making products that increase access and independence for everyone. The first two initiatives we’ve identified that represent the biggest impact to this purpose are in the Bitcoin space with bitcoin mining and Bitkey, a self custody bitcoin wallet. While we’re starting there, we don’t believe the need for tools to increase one’s independence is limited to bitcoin or the financial space. One principle across everything we do in Proto is open development – show and tell. We develop products in the open, you can read more about them at bitkey.build and mining.build.
Problems We Work On
The Proto Manufacturing Test Engineering team is responsible for making sure that all hardware devices leaving our factories are built according to design and meet (or exceed) customer expectations. We’re a diverse group of engineers that use our unique backgrounds to solve challenging problems in our factories. We dabble in electrical engineering, software, mechanicals and data analysis to understand the design intent of our products and understand how we can translate it to scalable test plans. This role will work closely with our contract manufacturer (CM) in Malaysia, and will require frequent travel to work in-person on our manufacturing test stations and work with our CM partners.
You Will
Become intimately familiar with Blocks's hardware products and manufacturing processes
Travel to our manufacturing lines to debug test stations, bring up hardware and software for new test stations
Provide on-site support during NPI and mass-production builds
Work closely with CM partners to ensure adequate support, failure analysis and line maintenance
Drive manufacturing test efficiency and yield improvements for post-ramp products
Research technologies for our next-generation hardware products
Develop test plans and test-setup prototypes for new technologies
Design, bring-up and maintain the hardware and software for test stations
Understand the meaning of the measurements our stations are taking, and feed analysis of these measurements back to our hardware design teams.
Reach beyond the boundaries of Manufacturing Test to make our products better wherever you see the chance
Travel 20% to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
