Job Description

The mission of the Square CBD Compliance team is to establish and enforce regulatory policies, perform due diligence reviews, and safely onboard CBD merchants to Square’s payments platform. As a Compliance Specialist, you will help maintain our legal and ethical integrity, and promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization. You will report to Square's Compliance CBD Lead.

You will:

  • Conduct due diligence reviews on high risk merchant account populations.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance, help to develop corrective action plans, and support CBD Compliance Lead in their implementation.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support to enhance compliance controls. 
  • Stay up to date on local, state, and federal agency (DEA, FDA) regulations regarding Hemp derived CBD, and comprehend how these regulations can affect our merchants.
  • Liaise with Square Partnerships Compliance & Advisory (S-PCA) Team on topics related to restricted and prohibited merchants identified by both Square’s network and banking partners.
  • Resolve escalations from customer facing teams regarding CBD merchant accounts.
  • Contribute to projects optimizing the regulatory program and operation team's processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, customer success, account management, and sales to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and our terms of service.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years experience in BSA/AML/KYC, Fraud, or Compliance related work, preferably in the fintech payments space. 
  • Investigative skills, including familiarity with public record research and database tools.
  • Transaction analysis skills that apply across numerous financial products in complex scenarios.
  • Adept ability to communicate both verbally and written with employees at multiple levels.
  • Basic knowledge of the CBD industry and products.

  • A highly flexible team player; you are able to change directions based on business demands and embrace challenging situations.
  • Productive in a remote work environment.
  • Open to working typical business hours in either Mountain or Pacific time zones.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $92,300 - USD $138,500
Zone B: USD $85,800 - USD $128,800
Zone C: USD $78,500 - USD $117,700
Zone D: USD $69,300 - USD $103,900
