Job Description

The mission of the Square Compliance Quality Control (QC) team at Square is to provide timely and encouraging feedback on decision-making; constructive observations; valuable insight into trends, processes, and procedures, while highlighting opportunities for efficiency. This is achieved by sampling decisions made by the Compliance Team. We are looking for a Compliance Quality Control Analyst to help QC review decisions made by our global Compliance operations teams. You will specifically focus on QC reviews of global transaction monitoring, US/UK Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Australian Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and Canada/EU Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs). You will provide training, identify gaps, and recommend enhancements to global Compliance procedures and report to the Square Compliance Quality Control Lead. 

This position is remote from the US, Canada, Australia or APAC region. Please note that this role requires non-traditional work hours across international timezones. 

Qualifications

You Will:

  • Sample a wide range of decisions arising from compliance-related alerts

  • Recognize patterns by evaluating data to make constructive observations to highlight gaps, develop procedures, and conduct training to support consistency.

  • Provide ongoing quality coaching.

  • Collaborate with leads to recommend enhancements to policy and procedures.

  • Respond to QC escalations, disputes and inquiries.

  • Have, or be able to quickly develop, knowledge of Compliance team workstreams to assess decisions against procedures.

  • Understand regulatory landscape and compliance requirements; with emphasis on applicable BSA/AML requirements including customer identification procedure, due diligence best practice, sanction screening requirements, and anti-money laundering protocols

  • Knowledge in AML transaction monitoring/suspicious activity/matter reporting typologies

You Have:

  • 3+ years experience in BSA/AML/Compliance.

  • 2+ years of either US SAR, AU SMR, UK SAR, EU STR or CA STR filing experience 

  • 1+ year of Compliance QC/QA experience 

  • Experience delivering training.

  • Experience delivering feedback to individuals.

  • A desire to work with individuals and teams across multiple countries and time zones.

Even Better:

  • Experience working in a financial institution or related FinTech payments space.

  • Familiarity with using and writing SQL queries.

  • Experience working for a global compliance team.

  • Knowledge of Looker and experience creating complex dashboards.

  • Experience manipulating and presenting trends to management using large data-sets.

  • Bi-lingual proficiency in either Spanish or Japanese

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $101,500 - USD $152,300
Zone B: USD $94,400 - USD $141,600
Zone C: USD $86,300 - USD $129,500
Zone D: USD $76,200 - USD $114,200
