Job Description

Square’s rapidly growing small business financing product, Square Capital, has revolutionized the way businesses obtain the capital needed to accomplish their goals. Unlike traditional financing products, Square Capital offers are extended to pre-qualified sellers with no application process, funds are deposited as soon as the next business day, and repayment happens as a fixed percentage of daily card sales. Since the product launched in 2014, Square Capital has already extended more than a billion to tens of thousands of Square sellers - and we’re just getting started.

As the engineering manager on Square Capital's Investor Experience team, you will build and manage a world-class team of engineers responsible for making investing in Square Capital easy. Our investor platform spans the stack, from a web-based investor dashboard the front-end to data-crunching jobs and millions of dollars in money transfers on the back-end. Qualifications

You will:

  • Build a world-class team from scratch, by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing your team, cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar
  • Help set broad direction and vision, influence product strategy, and establish practices to efficiently and effectively address customer needs
  • Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across our product, operations, and investor teams
  • Own the success of your team's projects and deliver quantifiable results in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in day-to-day development, including writing code, reviewing pull requests, and debugging issues

You have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (6+ years preferred)
  • 1+ year(s) managing engineering teams
  • Experience collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineering leaders
  • Excellent software engineering aptitude and the ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance
  • Current or recent hands-on coding expertise
  • Interest in working full-stack, from optimizing database transactions to building distributed systems and frontend web applications.
