Job Description

Square is looking for a strategic and experienced SEO Marketing Manager to join our growing marketing and acquisition team. This role will be responsible for crafting and executing our SEO roadmap--working to identify key opportunities, ensure strong performance for core products and initiatives, and oversee all technical SEO programs and requirements. Candidates should have extensive SEO experience, with a proven ability to unify cross-functional teams to drive exponential organic growth. This is a position for an outstanding strategic mind who thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment, possesses strong communication skills, and is quick to take initiative.


You will:

  • Drive high-volume organic search growth

  • Own and evolve Square’s site architecture and navigation to drive organic growth and preserve positive user experiences

  • Lead all technical SEO projects and own related technical requirements for product and marketing initiatives

  • Develop large-scale programs to grow our SEO practice and drive core business metrics

  • Identify and implement forward-facing opportunities and tactics that exponentially grow our search visibility

  • Oversee SEO best practices and adoption by core cross-functional teams, including content, front-end engineering, and creative teams

  • Work to provide leadership, strategic insights and feedback to other SEO team members

  • Monitor Organic Search performance of Square and top competitor sites

  • Partner with our dedicated data analyst to create and deliver recurring SEO performance reports, provide actionable insights for senior executives and stakeholders, collaborate on quarterly progress reviews and forecasts

  • Develop A/B testing strategy for our overarching SEO practices

Qualifications

You have:

  • 6+ years of professional experience in SEO (preferably in-house SEO in e-commerce / online retail), with a proven track record of successfully developing and implementing SEO programs and significantly improving Organic Search performance for online businesses

  • Extensive knowledge of SEO best practices, search engine algorithms and ranking strategies, and passion to stay abreast of news and trends in SEO and online marketing

  • Deep knowledge of technical SEO best practices and optimizations

  • Experience implementing successful large-scale SEO initiatives, including external link building, site architecture, and international localization

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with content, design, communications and product teams to drive SEO programs forward in a highly-effective manner

  • Understanding of critical SEO analytics and research platforms (e.g. Google & Bing Webmaster Tool, Google Analytics, Google Adwords Keyword Tool etc.), as well as familiarity with various third party SEO analytics solutions such as Brightedge, SEOClarity, Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush etc.

  • Bachelors degree in a related field
