Company Description

We started with a simple idea—that everyone should be able to accept credit cards—and we’ve been rethinking buying and selling ever since.

For sellers, we’re creating one cohesive service to run your entire business, from a register in your pocket to analytics on your laptop. For buyers, we’re making it faster to order from the businesses you love and more fun to pay your friends back.

Buying and selling sound like simple things—and they should be. Somewhere along the way, they got complicated. We’re working hard to make commerce easy for everyone.

Job Description

Finance & Strategy is responsible for improving strategic and financial decision making across the company. Our team’s core value is trust – we build it by making what is complex simple, and we do it with elegant models that are both accurate and easy-to-understand. Business partners appreciate our insight and trust us to help them solve difficult problems. At Square we believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, and we’ll trust you to collaborate with others, form intelligent opinions, and present your thoughts to decision makers and the executive team.

We are looking for an analyst who will work as a member of Square’s Finance & Strategy Business team, and who will directly influence key elements of the Sales team’s overall financial forecast and strategic decision making. In this role you will also play a critical role in building the analytical capabilities and delivering insights that will inform decisions regarding Sales strategy and operations, compensation, and deal pricing and negotiations.

You will:

  • Lead strategic decision making regarding sales performance, quota setting, strategy and pricing through data driven analyses and financial modeling
  • Analyze deal terms with strategic partners, advise on in-process negotiations, and propose creative solutions to reach a goal or maximize an outcome
  • Play a key role in setting competitive pricing across Square’s portfolio of products to best position the sales team to close deals
  • You will lead and coach an analyst on the team
  • Build, maintain and enforce a pricing framework across all Square products
  • Perform pricing analyses to inform changes to go-forward pricing implementation and strategy

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field
  • 4-6 years (minimum) of relevant industry experience with financial modeling (e.g. investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, consulting)
  • Experience forecasting and working with a scaling sales team
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel, model design and driver-based analyses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A highly analytical and inquisitive work style with a keen attention to detail -- but also ability to see the big picture
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong passion for Square’s mission

Even better:

  • Experience with SQL, Tableau and/or Salesforce is a plus
  • Understanding of the payments industry is a plus, but not necessary
