Company Description

Square has made commerce easy by reinventing how payments and financial services take risks. And we’re far from done. We’re seeking a small group of talented product and risk (taking) leaders to define and execute against a larger vision to make commerce even easier. We want users to choose Square - for a wiser risk and for protection against fraud.

We are one of the few core teams at Square that launched Square’s vanguard products (Square Capital and Chargeback Protection) and that makes key decisions on all money-moving product lifecycles. We productize risk detection and protection services for our customers using risk machine-learning algorithms. We are also developing a risk platform that powers money-moving products for developers.

In this role, you’ll work with top notch engineers, data scientists, and designers at a rocketship pace and in a hybrid technology/operations environment. The role demands deep technical acumen, sound product judgment, structured thinking, lightspeed execution, and an obsession about customers and data when it comes to taking risks.

Job Description

  • Drive insights from user data and develop machine-learning model requirements in collaboration with Data Science and Engineering.

  • Incubate new features by experimenting through A/B tests or testing through focus studies by engaging Operations, Business partners, and Marketing.

  • Make buy/build/partner decisions when we need to launch and design a new machine-learning algorithm.

  • Own risk detection vision throughout a customer’s lifecycle with Square, from sign up and onboarding to first payments to usage behavior changes.

  • Improve speed of iterative builds by enhancing productivity of a high-performing cross-functional team, including Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Design, and Business partners.

  • Move fluidly from big picture to the smallest details so that the team can deliver complex and strategic projects. No task is beneath you nor too daunting to take on.
