Job Description
Work as an internal consultant to the business, to manage the Bank’s assets through effective risk management and control systems with an aim to mitigate risk in transactions and the underlying processes, in partnership with other assurance functions. Support the delivery of an independent assurance on the effectiveness of controls across the business by executing control assurance assessments, within the agreed timeframes, providing assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls.
- Proactively identifying and assessing operational and compliance risks to ensure that internal controls are maintained at acceptable levels across the business.
- Support the Manager Internal control with establishing the “First Line of Defence” for the controls applied to the processes in-country through a walk-through check on control
- Undertake checks in Operations in accordance with the agreed schedule, to ensure that procedures and controls are maintained within prescribed and acceptable parameters.
- Liaises with business stakeholders in ensuring that regulatory, group policy standards, minimum operating procedures regulatory & routine controls are observed effectively to minimise the Bank’s exposure to risk.
- Work in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure potential risks and controls are adequately identified and measured appropriately.
- Ensure that all routine controls relating to new products developments and business developments are applied effectively, with particular emphasis on routine compliance.
Qualifications
- First degree in Business, Accounting, Banking or Finance-related field.
- Professional Accounting or Internal Control Qualification will be an added advantage
- 3 to 4 years control experience in banking operations and able to understand complex operation in the financial service sector
- Robust reporting mechanisms for key control performance indicators, exceptions, trends and operational incidents.
