Job Description

Digitalisation Energy Management (MED) unit supports the Energy Management (ME) business owners in managing the business requirements for the IT systems on behalf of ME, with a professional interface towards IT. Furthermore, the unit supports the commercial energy management process with automation, analysis, structuring and pricing, and by providing an algorithmic trading infrastructure. MED creates significant value for Statkraft and its customers by delivering next generation digital solutions in Energy Management. The unit’s responsibility requires an in-depth understanding of the business processes and system landscape in ME.   

Renewables Forecasting team (MEDF) owns the renewables production forecasting process end-to-end for Wind and Solar portfolios in all European markets. This includes input/output data management, forecast vendor management and creation of meta forecast. They own the quality and budget so that the highest commercial benefit is realised.

Your role:

As a working student in the MEDF team you will support the team in developing internal tools and products. There are 2 options for the role, please specify which one you are interested in:

  • Backend Development:
    • Writing unit tests supporting database and API development
    • Developing internal tools and products using Python, Flask, and SQLAlchemy
    • Support in designing database schemas and ETL processes
  • Frontend Development:
    • Writing unit tests for front end parts of internal tools and products, such as jQuery ajax
    • Developing internal tools and products with jinja templates, CSS bootstrap, TS/JS jQuery and some other front-end libraries.
    • Support in designing UI features

Qualifications

  • We are expecting you to have:
    • Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Excellent communication skills in English are a must.
    • Able to use search engines and LLM tools efficiently.
    • Eager to learn and able to work independently.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft products (Office, Outlook, Teams, Visio, VSCode)
    • Some experience with high-level programming languages, preferably Python.
    • Experience with version control systems/tools.
       
  • You will have great advantages if you have experience in one or more of the following:
    • Understanding of the basics of RDBMS, SQL and ETL processes.
    • RDBMS designing, or working with ORM (Django, SqlAlchemy, Laravel, etc.)
    • Data manipulation tools like pandas, polars, spark, MATLAB, or R.
    • Bulk data processing, REST APIs, or networking.
    • Gitlab CI/CD, containerization
    • Front end development tools/languages/libraries (Jinja HTML, TS/JS jQuery, Bootstrap, etc.)
    • Automated testing tools, such as pytest or selenium.
    • Familiarity with CLI tools.
    • Wholesale energy industry.
