Job purpose

To provide high quality legal advice and legal risk management for the relevant internal clients and the Statkraft Group.

With what results are the position supposed to contribute?

  • Deliver high-quality legal advice to Statkraft, based on a profound understanding of the business, relevant markets, the company, its organization, objectives, and strategies. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, thereby minimizing risks for the company.
  • Legal advice will encompass, among other aspects, assistance in procurement matters, review of complex contracts with significant financial impact, and negotiation of legal terms when establishing contracts, with the aim of safeguarding Statkraft's interests.
  • Regarding projects, contracts for construction will be drafted, negotiated, and monitored to ensure compliance with legal guidelines and proper contract execution.
  • Utilize understanding of the business, company, and relevant legal areas to proactively identify legal risks associated with the matter at hand, as well as legal risks that may affect the Statkraft Group as a whole, and recommend measures to mitigate such risks.
  • Draft construction contract drafts, in coordination with involved departments, corporate, and external legal advisory lawyers.
  • Provide support to areas of interest (social, environmental, health, and safety) to ensure compliance with regulations established by various government entities (ministries, regulatory bodies, municipalities, etc.).
  • Provide guidance during contract execution, ensuring proper project and supplier management to avoid economic harm to the company.
  • Offer legal guidance in case of contractual breaches by suppliers and mediate conflict resolution if necessary.
  • Manage relationships with external lawyers and lead the legal workflow on long-term projects.

Qualifications

Competence requirements

  • Excellent degree in Law, preferably with LL.M.   
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, mainly on construction contracts, including the FIDIC model. 
  • 6+ years’ experience in commercial legal work from top tier law firms and/or in-house, preferable with some international experience.
  • Experience of managing external law firms
  • Desirable knowledge on environmental law.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English.
