Company Description

Stellar Industrial Supply is the Pacific Northwest's premier distributor of industrial supplies.  We serve small, medium and large manufacturers; Federal, State and local municipalities; and commercial construction companies in Washington, Alaska, Oregon,  Idaho, Montana and California.  We are seeking a Sales Representative that will work on-site at with our customers in Tacoma and Seattle, WA, delivering product, taking orders, and serving as a Stellar ambassador.

Job Description

It is the responsibility of a Sale Representative/Site Support to work as a responsible member of their branch team and sales department, to maximize sales and gross margin potential for the company, while observing the principals stated in Stellar’s Mission Statement and Vision as well as follow all of the customer’s on-site guidelines. 

Major responsibilities and expectations:

1) Proficiently and efficiently support and drive sales results on customer site or via a managed inventory solution:
a. Immediately address the customer, and adeptly handle all inquiries and requests
i. Communicate quickly and accurately with the customer with regards to quotes, orders or any other aspects of their account business, return calls and quotes as soon as possible
b. Learn and understand how to use, when applicable, all Stellar inventory management solutions, including but not limited to:
i. Supply Pro system and processes
ii. Cribmaster system and processes
iii. Hand Held Bin Management system (HHBM)
iv. All other Stellar vendor managed inventory systems
c. Maintain and accurately track all Stellar managed inventory
i. Keep organized
ii. Maintain cleanliness
iii. Ensure all labels are clear and legible
d. Accurately enter quotes and orders using the P21 (Prophet 21) processes or working with inside sales (CSR’s)
e. Generate add on sales where appropriate, recognizing sales opportunities as you increase your customer and product knowledge
f. Research and manage the quote process for the account by utilizing branch and company resources where possible
g. Communicate with vendors directly when necessary, accurately record vendor commitments on price and delivery in P21
h. Communicate with Stellar Product Managers as needed to meet customer requirements
i. Engage in continual learning of Stellar products, processes and systems

2) Support and assist to implement Stellar vendor managed inventory programs at customer locations to enhance revenue generation:
a. Supports all Stellar inventory management solutions in their assigned territory
b. Inspects customer site and assists in determining solutions implementation process and timeline. Recommends any changes in layout to customer and/or Stellar associate as appropriate
c. Travels to Stellar solution customer locations to scan Stellar managed items for receipt by the P21 and appropriate inventory system. Manages min-max product quantity at customer location
d. Assists in identification and cross-referencing of product for managed inventory program
e. Creates crossover spreadsheets and requests or prints bar-code labels at a Branch Location for VMI implementations using the most current process
f. Maintains and updates all solutions equipment in branch and at customer site where applicable, such as scanners, label makers, etc.
g. Identifies unprofitable managed inventory that may not fit with current business model
h. Evaluates and recommends to Branch Manager potential profitability of managed inventory
i. Supplies reporting supporting managed inventory and other solutions as directed by the needs of the branch.
j. Builds customer relationships via exceptional levels of service to ensure customer satisfaction and retention

3) Conduct yourself as a responsible Stellar employee and co-worker:
a. Understand Stellar’s mission and vision
b. Guides less experienced branch associates to resolve customer issues, increase product knowledge, and promote Stellar culture
c. Display a consistent positive, can-do attitude at all times
d. Work as part of your team, supporting customer employees to meet all company’s goals, as well as others in your department to meet branch and company goals
e. Willingly help others at Stellar as well in the company you are serving
f. Maintain personal responsibility for your actions
g. Maintain constant and clear communication with your manager on impediments to progress or suggestions for improvement opportunities
h. Maintain a neat and clean appearance as established by your manager
i. Always work with honesty and forthrightness


4) Understand and support Stellar’s service capabilities:
a. Be knowledgeable of divisional specialists and supplier sales resources
b. Understand documented cost savings for customers and how to recognize them (My Stellar Savings)
c. Be aware of Stellar’s indirect material management solutions, including consignment and B2B
d. Act as a liaison between revenue producers and other Stellar divisions such as Solutions, in support of accounts by utilizing branch and company resources where possible
e. Create and maintain accurate information within our CRM (TDF)
f. Understand Stellar’s dedicated inventory levels and first pass fill rates to meet or exceed customer needs
g. Be knowledgeable of Stellar’s efficient logistics processes and sophisticated product management and replenishment systems

5) Follow all customer guidelines and procedures as it pertains to your position
a. Follow all on-site safety and emergency procedures
b. Stay current on all required training and certifications

Additional Information

  • This may transition into a full-time outside sales position with possibility of base plus commission.
  • The position entails driving to and from customer locations based out of our Seattle and Tacoma branches.
