Job Description

The Safety Sales Specialist shall work with and support the Company’s Inside Sales and Outside Sales staff, as well as working with Branch and Department Managers, to coordinate sales, inventory, warehousing and delivery.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

More specifically, it is the responsibility of the Safety Specialist to work with and support:

  • I.        Outside Sales Development and Marketing
  • Operate as a part of the Division’s Outside Sales staff
  • Train the Industrial Outside Sales staff on Safety Products
  • Make joint sales calls with the Industrial Outside Sales Staff
  • Achieve sales and margin generation goals
  • Directly call on key potential accounts – 60%+ of time
  • Coordinate contract quotes and implementations with Division Vice President, Purchasing and Branch Managers
  • Coordinate all marketing activities through the Division Vice President
  • Coordinate joint call activities through the Division VP, VP of Sales and Sales Manager
  • Work directly with the Division VP on developing any significant opportunities in the Division’s service area
  • II.     Inside Sales Staff
  • Train the Inside Sales staff on Safety Products
  • Work with the Inside Sales team to ensure that:
      • The group operates as an effective team, striving to meet or exceed company and Division goals
      • Customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded (including “internal customers”)
      • Customer service is prompt, professional and courteous
      • The company and the Division maximize sales and gross margin, through:
        •                                                                            i.      Add-on sales
        •                                                                          ii.      Product knowledge
        •                                                                         iii.      Call out selling
        •                                                                        iv.      Outside sales support
        • Phones are answered immediately
        • Product knowledge is kept current and continuously upgraded
  • Work to achieve defined performance levels and measure results against clear goals
  • III.   Safety Division Inventory
    • Responsible for working with the Division VP and Purchasing to access the appropriate lines and stock the appropriate levels of inventory to assure the success of the Division.
    • Communicate regularly with the Division VP regarding;
      • Over-stock
      • Stock-outs
      • New items or products required
  • IV.   General Responsibilities
    • Keep the Division VP adequately informed on all aspects of this function
    • Be available to support sales in all geographic areas covered by the Company
    • Coordinate Division requirements with Sales, Branch and Department Managers to assure efficiency and to meet customer expectations
    • Keep abreast of relevant industry developments and constantly plan for the future
    • Coordinate Division requirements with Branch and Department Managers to assure efficiency and to meet customer expectations
    • Communicate clearly with all departments to assist the company in achieving overall goals and mission
    • Generate sales opportunities through leveraging customer relationships
    • Assist in outside safety sales coverage as needed
    • Make deliveries and pickups as needed
    • Display positive "can do" attitude and strive for constant improvement

Qualifications

Skills required:


• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Solid Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook (calendar/tasks) etc.

• Team player who can handle responsibilities independently within a sales team environment

• Maintain a high energy level and positive attitude

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Strong work ethic

• Strong analytical skills

• Ability & desire to develop new business and forge new relationships

• Experience with maintaining & expanding current account bases

• Ability to present a compelling value proposition and identify proper programs to meet clients’ needs for their business

• Maintain a high level of organization

Additional Information

While based out of Upland, CA this position requires travel throughout all Stellar branches (Washington, Oregon, and California) and beyond.
